The Center for Foodborne Illness Research and Prevention is dedicated to working with our employees, volunteers, partners, and all food safety stakeholders to prevent illness and death from foodborne disease. CFI seeks to develop an environment of openness, trust, and integrity that encourages research, education and advocacy on food safety issues that will result in stronger food protections for all Americans.

CFI strives to develop proactive and innovative programs and activities that are consistent with our mission. CFI donors have entrusted their funding to CFI with the purpose of preventing foodborne illness. As such, CFI is committed to the responsible management and use of CFI assets and will act in good faith, exercising due care in all we do. CFI will comply with all applicable government laws, rules and regulations and will continually strive for excellence in financial management to ensure the long-term viability of the organization and the achievement of CFI’s mission.

Conflict of Interest

CFI promotes objectivity and strives to maintain public confidence in our work and our mission. Therefore, as representatives of CFI, employees and volunteers are obligated to place the interest of CFI ahead of any personal interest or gain and disclose all facts regarding any activity, investment or interest that may result in an actual or perceived personal or professional gain.

Possible conflicts of interests – including but not limited to financial (other than ownership in mutual funds), occupational or professional – should be disclosed to the Executive Director and, if warranted, the Board of Directors. Each CFI employee and volunteer will annually review CFI’s Conflict of Interest Policy and disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
